Hi! We are Mick and Lianne, and together we founded Base Soaps.
Then
It all started in 2017, after Mick finished his PhD in Chemisty, and our daughter was growing from a tiny baby to an independent little girl, leaving us with more time and energy to put elsewhere. We shared an urge to combine our working lives in a project for which we could both be proud.
A few years earlier, a DIY soap making experience generated some Christmas gifts, and the result was better than predicted. Was there a greater market for this type of soap on a larger scale? A few farmer’s markets later and chance interactions with retail owners set us on a path of no return.

Now
Annually, we now hand make tens of thousands of bars and liquid soap for Base and other select brands. Our products can be found on a growing number of shelves around the country and overseas.

Not only do the products we make tick all of those boxes, we are also a social enterprise, which means in our case, that the profits we make will contribute to health projects for Australian communities (read more about this on our Impact page). Because in the end, we want our business to leave a positive impact on our country, and the world.

Base is inspired by the outdoors. By the land on which we live. The colours, scents and textures of the Southern Tablelands and beyond.
